Today, sharing some thoughts that I read the other day from a friend:

What tastes better than clean, cold water when you're really thirsty? And what do you do when you're desperate for drinks but don't have clean water available?

Here's what I did,17years old, when I ran my first, and so far last half marathon. I had not received or requested knowledge and advice on how best to conduct such a race in terms of food and drink. I didn't bring a drinking bottle with me, and it turned out that there were no drinking posts along the way either. No sooner or later have I been more desperate for water than at the time. Well halfway through the race, I actually ended up lying down on all fours and slurping in me dirty mud water right next to a farm.
yes, you read right. And, you thought maybe it couldn't go well... That's right! I got to the finish, but I got bad, really bad.

In chapter 4 of the Gospel of John, we read about Jesus meeting a woman at a well in Samaria. He starts a conversation with her and says, "Did you know the gift of God, and did you know who it is that says to you, Give me to drink—then you had asked him, and he would give you live water!" Joh 4:10. Jesus goes on to tell you that the living water will quench her thirst once and for all. The woman replied, "Give me this water!" She had, like me (and you?) been thirsty for what life had to offer. But what she had tried so far had not quenched her thirst.

My deepest life was to gain recognition and be liked by everyone. I searched until the age of 35 to curb my thirst with "mud water" in the form of complements from other people. Every time "the clever Hege" got a mud trick in the form of a complement, it quenched the thirst only for a moment. But then the familiar and painful "I-is-not-good-enough feeling" appeared too quickly again.. It was only in the face of God's acknowledgment, loving gaze that this unquenchable thirst let go of me and disappeared.. This loving gaze turned into "living water" in my life! Only God and the Son of God can quench the deepest spiritual thirst we carry. What life greatest do you want Jesus to satisfy in your life? Ask him to fill your deepest longings and needs with the pure living water.
