Ingfrid Mundal shares with us some thoughts on time for the most important;

In Luke 10, 38-42 we read about when Jesus came to visit Martha and Mary. Have you thought about what it would be like if Jesus suddenly stood at your door? What would you do? What would I do? I hope I let him in without apologies. 'It's a little messy here, Jesus. I should have washed and cleaned first, I knew you were coming. " It can sometimes be both dirty, messy and chaotic at home and in life. I can feel the shame of not getting things done. But that's exactly when we need to let him in!

These two sisters each have their starting point in this Bible story. One is stressed. Is it just for this visit, or has it built up over time? We do not know. The other seems to forget everything else, to be with Jesus. We may get the impression that she is slipping away, but is that all the truth? We do not know. We only know that one sits down in the presence of Jesus, while the other takes on the role of hostess. And it is good that someone cares for Jesus and his entourage, they are probably scrubbing hungry when they come. The boring thing is that she misses the fellowship with Jesus. She does not understand what he has to say.

I have asked myself: What is it that I am so preoccupied with, that I can not sit down with Jesus? What is stealing my time? Why does not fellowship with Jesus have a greater place in my daily life?

This fall, I have given some thought to this. Everyday life can be busy, and it does not have to be a goal to put in more. But how about putting something away, replacing something, to prioritize what I really want? How about logging off of social media more often, putting your phone away for a few hours and not being available all the time? Or how about accessing the bible app instead of facebook when I have a few free minutes? How about exchanging some of the time in front of the TV with praise or listening to a speech? How about doing as Jesus says elsewhere: seek the kingdom of God first? Maybe it will do something good with the whole day?

Martha accuses Jesus of not caring. I'm pretty sure she knows very well that he does just that. Cares about her. But when everyday stress and bustle take us, it's easy to forget what he really is like. We need to remind ourselves how he has met us before. We remember this more easily when we take time for the most important thing: to sit down for a little while at Jesus' feet and do nothing but be
