«Teach us to count our days, that we receive wisdom in the heart» hymn 90,12

At the beginning of last year, I had let this word go deep in me from psalm 90.12. The reason for that is that I read a little piece about what the basic text says about the word "count." It means more than just that we have to be conscious that we have limited days. It means "preparing" and "designing" so we must not only count the days, we must learn to prepare them, to determine our days.  We can and should prepare for the days to come, day by day. In the midst of busyness, we can find a way to live that makes our days felt like our lives. Last year was completely different from what any of us could imagine in advance and during the year I have many times asked for God's help in preparing for the days to come and still we do not see quite when our normal everyday life returns.  I think God wants us to learn to put our days in His hands and rest in that His care is enough for each of us no matter what the day or tomorrow will be.

But how do we do it then? you might think. We have learned to pray: "Do thy will, as in heaven so also on earth» This prayer we can take into our daily lives, to put the days that lie just before us in God's hands. Let your will happen today, God! Be you God in the eyes of those who see me today and in the mouths of those who talk to me today.  The prayer does something to us, so that we become more aware and more listening to what He has put before us as pre-prepared works. There may be small meeting points where we can bless both at home and at work. We dedicate the days to God's plans so that they can bring with them what is good.

"Don't let your days decide your life. Let your life decide your days. Don't just let your days pass by. Prepare them. So that they can become tools of blessing and life.Set your days." (Jonathan Cahn)
